Electric Vehicle Charge Point Installation in Salford
Salford Electrical Services provide professional EV charge point installation in Salford and across South Manchester. As OZEV (formerly OLEV) authorised installers, we install electric vehicle charging points safely, correctly, and in line with current UK regulations.
We offer a complete service covering advice, design, installation, and aftercare. All EV charging installations are carried out by fully qualified, insured electricians working to the latest electrical safety standards.
Home EV Charging Installations
We install dedicated home EV charging points throughout Greater Manchester. While a 3-pin plug can be used occasionally, it is slow and can overheat. A professionally installed EV charger provides faster charging, improved safety, and long-term reliability.
We will help you select the most suitable charger for your property and vehicle, ensuring the installation is tailored to your electrical supply, parking arrangement, and usage requirements.
Charging Your Electric Vehicle at Home
Most EV charging takes place at home, so it is important that your charger integrates safely with your existing electrical system. Before installation, we assess:
- Whether there is a suitable location for the charge point and vehicle
- The capacity of your electrical supply to support EV charging
- Any permissions required if the property is rented or leasehold
This ensures your EV charger operates efficiently without overloading your household electrics.
Tethered or Untethered EV Chargers
You can choose between a tethered EV charger, with a permanently attached cable, or an untethered charger, which uses a separate Type 2 charging lead.
- Tethered chargers offer convenience with a fixed cable ready to plug in
- Untethered chargers offer flexibility if you change vehicles or have multiple EVs
We will advise on the most practical option based on your vehicle, future plans, and daily charging habits.
Load Monitoring & Electrical Safety
Where required, we install load monitoring to manage electrical demand safely. This allows your vehicle to charge without overloading the main supply or blowing the main fuse, even when other appliances are in use.
EV Charger Connector Types
Most modern electric vehicles use a Type 2 connector, which is now standard across the UK. If your vehicle uses a different connector, we will specify a compatible charging unit to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Solar EV Charging
If your property has solar panels, we can install an EV charger compatible with solar PV systems. This allows excess solar energy to be used to charge your vehicle, reducing running costs and maximising renewable energy usage.
Smart Features & Software Updates
Modern EV chargers include smart features such as scheduled charging, energy monitoring, and app control. Software updates are applied automatically, ensuring your system remains reliable and up to date.
